The popularity of the movie series makes Pirates of the Caribbean costumes among the favorites during Halloween season. Johnny Depp and his fellow pirates are colorful characters that translate well into great costume ideas for men and women alike.

Captain Jack Sparrow is the swashbuckling star of the move franchise and his look starts with dark colored pants cropped at the knee and a white shirt with long, puffy sleeves worn open at the neck. The next layer is a blue sleeveless vest that hangs to about mid thigh and is worn with a belt or sash cinched around the waist. He wears brown boots with wide cuffs turned down. Jack's signature hair braids are embellished with beads and small metal charms. He also wears a bandana wrapped around his head and a tricorn hat.

Hector Barbossa is Jack's nemesis throughout the first movie but the two become allies in later films. Actor Geoffrey Rush brings this character to life with baggy dark pants and a white shirt worn loose and open around the neck. The long gray jacket features black braid down the front and cuffs. The pants are tucked into tall black boots with wide cuffs. A bandolier across the chest and a large black hat with feathers add just the right touch.

Angelica is the sexy daughter of the dreaded Blackbeard and she joins the cast in the newest series installment. Her white peasant shirt is worn off the shoulder over black leggings and underneath a black corset hugging the waist. She wears her leggings tucked into high heel black boots. Her black hat features one large feather plume and a decorative buckle on the front.

Blackbeard is another new character from the series. His long gray pirate coat has wide leather cuffs and lapels. The coat is worn over a black shirt with ruffles down the front and black cropped pants. His black tricorn hat has a skull and crossbones buckle. He wears a full black beard and a hook where his right hand should be.

Captain Davy Jones is the main protagonist in the second film, Dead Man's Chest. He wears the standard pirate outfit with vest, long coat and boots but his clothes are tattered and torn. His left hand is a giant claw and his beard is sea snakes instead of hair.

Any of the standard pirate accessories are suitable for these costumes. A large sword tucked into a belt or waist sash is a nice touch. Gold medallions and hoop earrings are great additions to any of these looks. A plush monkey makes a suitable accessory for the Barbossa costume since Jack, the monkey, is his companion and cohort.

Pirates of the Caribbean costumes are ideal for groups attending theme parties together. Larger groups can add characters from the early movies like Elizabeth Swann, Will Turner or Tia Dalma.
